"Losers" flee the leadership! Changes expected in the governing bodies of the DP with the new reality produced by the elections
The change in the parliamentary group will impose a refresh of the composition of the Democratic Party leadership and parliamentary committees at the start of the autumn session, adapting the structures to the new political reality produced by the elections.
Sali Berisha gave indefinite leave to over half of the deputies of the parliamentary group, who in the fall will not have the opportunity to sit on the Assembly bench and, consequently, will also be stripped of the positions they held in the party. The new configuration of the parliamentary group will produce a new composition of another decision-making body: the Presidency of the Democratic Party, where many figures will leave because they will no longer enjoy leadership positions in the parliamentary committees.
The political divorce with Sali Berisha came at a cost for Ferdinand Xhaferri, who was left off the lists by the chairman. The former MP was part of the Presidency due to his function as vice-chairman of the National Security Commission, but with the new reality he will no longer be part of this body.
The same fate will befall Dhurata Çupi, who did not have a guaranteed ticket to the Assembly, after being put on the open list by the Speaker. A new name is expected to take her seat as Vice-Chair of the Laws Committee.
Zheni Gjergji had secured a seat in the Presidency due to her position as chairwoman of the Health Commission, but she too was caught in the mayor's "broom" before the elections.
Edmond Spaho, whom Sali Berisha put on the open list, announced his departure from politics after the elections were closed, disappointed, questioning the leadership in the Integration Secretariat that made him part of the Presidency.
Helidon Bushati's position as an ex-officio member is also unclear, after he abandoned the Democratic Party's electoral train before the elections.
In the Democratic Party, no one is talking about resignation as a result of reflecting on the electoral defeat, but the refreshing of the governing bodies and internal reorganization is inevitable as a result of the political reality that the elections produced.
Many voices after the deep defeat called for changes in the leadership, but Sali Berisha is currently invested in proving what he considers a farce, in the hope that with the passing of the heat and the resumption of autumn, the minds of the Democrats will be refreshed./ Tch
