Former SP officials in prison! Rama: It's painful that people he knows are behind bars

Prime Minister Edi Rama has commented on the arrest of former Socialist Party officials. He stressed that it is not easy to see people you have known for a long time face justice for the charges against them. However, Rama expressed the government's determination to fight to strengthen the rule of law.
The Prime Minister emphasized that now the authority to punish has been transferred from the executive to the judicial system, meaning that it is the court that makes the decisions to prosecute and punish individuals who violate the law.
Rama: We are fighting quite resolutely against all odds when it comes to the rule of law, equality before the law with our justice reform. It is very painful, for the first time in the history of our state, we are seeing powerful people connected to political power being held accountable to independent judges and prosecutors.
I can't hide from you that from a human point of view it's not the best thing to see people you've known for a long time brought to justice to answer for various things. While they are innocent until proven guilty, these are processes that take their time.
What is new is that we have massively cleaned up the justice process through a verification process and, on the other hand, we have passed the sword of punishment from the executive branch to the judiciary.
