Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji, during a speech held at a meeting with DP structures in Fier, stated that the DP should not boycott the Territorial Reform Commission, as the existing one, with the mistakes that the DP also made, has removed services from citizens.
He asked the DP to send its representatives to the Commission to present the opposition's concrete proposals there.
"We cannot say one thing in the morning and another thing in the afternoon. Gentlemen, come out there, let's give our proposals for the Territorial Reform, let's meet the people, let's increase services and municipalities as the citizens of the Fier region demand, to increase municipalities, not to reduce them, because just as the Territorial Reform was done due to the mistake of the DP, it has taken services away from the citizens," he said.
He stated that Edi Rama has no interest in delivering services to citizens, has no interest in having local government, has an interest in concentrating power in as few hands as possible so that he can distribute construction permits and tenders as he pleases.
Salianji further emphasized that change does not come by itself, but is built by listening to mistakes.
Ervin Salianji: We cannot say one thing in the morning and another thing in the afternoon. Remember how when Edi Rama threw the DP leadership with the DP votes to elect the People's Advocate, they said that there is no more cooperation with Rama.
Meanwhile, it was said for weeks that we would not be part of the committees with Edi Rama. But now, after it was said that we would not participate. Now they say yes we are, no we are not.
Gentlemen, come out there, let's give our proposals for the Territorial Reform, let's meet the people, let's increase services and municipalities as the citizens of the Fier region demand, to increase municipalities, not to reduce them, because just as the Territorial Reform was done due to the mistake of the DP, it has taken services away from the citizens.
An electoral reform was carried out for political purposes and not to serve the local government closer to the citizens as it should be, and to issue our list of municipalities, the competencies they should have, our concrete proposal and then Edi Rama can do whatever he wants, we have nothing to do with him.
Because Edi Rama has no interest in delivering services to citizens, he has no interest in having local government, he has an interest in concentrating power in as few hands as possible so that he can distribute construction permits and tenders as he pleases, just as he keeps the people unchanged here in the Fier region. We must change for these reasons.
Change doesn't come by itself, change is built by listening to even the mistakes. Because when we say these things in closed rooms, they don't listen, when we say them in open rooms, they say why they say them, and when we say them openly in front of thousands of people, they still fall into the mud.
