The anniversary of the Postriba uprising, Basha commemorates the fallen: Engaged

The head of the Euro-Atlantic PD-Democrats, Lulzim Basha, has commemorated the Postriba uprising, which marks 78 years since what was also called the first anti-communist movement in Europe separated by the Iron Curtain.

In a post on the Facebook social network, Basha writes that on this historic day, we bow with honor and respect to the courageous work of hundreds of patriots, intellectuals, clerics of all faiths, who stood up against the dictatorial and bloody regime that had just been installed in Albania.

He further writes that its bloody oppression remains one of the most painful wounds in our national memory, as it crippled the intellectual and moral elite of Albania, and devastated important families with patriotic contributions such as that of Jup Kazazi, Osman Haxhi, Idriz Tahir and Abdullah Sahit, who lead the revolt against evil.

According to Basha's obligation to the martyrs of Postriba and their descendants, the Euro-Atlantic Democrats remain committed to repaying the great moral and material debt to the persecuted class, who with our program will enjoy the same financial evaluation enjoyed by the status of ex-soldiers .

Basha's full post:

On September 9, 1946, in Postriba, the first spark of anti-communist resistance came to life in all of Europe separated by the Iron Curtain.

On this historic day, we bow with honor and respect before the courageous work of hundreds of patriots, intellectuals, clerics of all faiths, who stood up against the dictatorial and bloodthirsty regime that had just been installed in Albania.
A revolt justified by the deep historical consciousness of the insurgents, that communism was incompatible with the basic values for the development of the homeland, such as freedom in all its forms and the western orientation of Albania.

As the first major act of resistance in Europe occupied by communism, the uprising shook the regime from its foundations, marking one of the fiercest reprisals of the dictatorship. Its bloody suppression remains one of the most painful wounds in our national memory, as it crippled the intellectual and moral elite of Albania, and devastated important families with patriotic contributions such as that of Jup Kazazi, Osman Haxhi, Idriz Tahir and Abdullah Sahit. , leading the revolt against evil.

This long and exhausting ordeal, of suffering and sacrifices, is a patriotic call to respect and protect the painful legacy of the martyrs of Postriba, as a milestone in our history and in the effort of Albanians to be an integral part of European civilization. .

And while a second, cold war is coming to European and world capitals, we make ours - the sublime sacrifice of the Postriba patriots, determined to keep Albania on its natural axis, oriented towards the West and the values of freedom, democracy and inalienable rights. Rights for which hundreds, thousands of men and women fought, in the confrontation between democracies and autocracies, and where the martyrs of Postriba are the first swallow, of a spring that was delayed, but finally came.

With gratitude and a deep sense of obligation to the martyrs of Postriba and their descendants, the Euro-Atlantic Democrats remain engaged in repaying the great moral and material debt to the persecuted class, who with our program will enjoy the same financial evaluation that the status enjoys of ex-soldier. Likewise, we commit ourselves to the creation of the National Museum of Remembrance of the crimes of the communist dictatorship, as well as the construction in Tirana of the memorial for the martyrs of freedom, killed by the communist regime.

May the memory of the martyrs of Postriba not be forgotten!
