In Poliçan, where the streets are empty and the only eyes he meets are the elderly, Altin Cankaj raises his voice for a truth that can no longer be hidden. “Poliçan has turned into a ghost town,” says the Euro-Atlantic Coalition candidate for Berat County. Even Vertopi, the largest unit of the Municipality, has been off any development agenda for decades – with zero investment and no hope for the young.
Leaving is not a choice, but despair. And this despair is a direct consequence of a government that has forgotten its country and its people for 12 years. Cankaj calls on citizens to believe that there can be another way – through an open economy, support for families and the restoration of the dignity of life in every corner of Albania.
