The political leader of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, Lulzim Basha, on the Context show on ATV Kosova, spoke about his proposal, submitted to the Albanian Parliament for more than a year, for Albania to support Kosovo each year with a fund of 50 million euros for defense and security.
According to Basha, this support would be a clear act of national solidarity, without affecting any important item of the Albanian state budget.
"For a year and a few months, my proposal has been in the Albanian Parliament, since after the paramilitary attack in Banjska, to provide Kosovo with military aid worth 50 million euros from the Albanian budget every year to be used for its defense. 50 million euros in a government that spends 7.2 billion euros a year is approximately half of this government's spending on curtains, tables, new cars - that is, on government luxuries. No other item is affected, neither investments, nor social spending ," Basha declared.
He added that this aid should be managed in coordination with Western allies, as a clear signal to the region and the international community.
"This would be a clear act not only towards Kosovo, but towards all of Europe, towards the world, towards Serbia - that we are on Kosovo's side. Fifty million euros allocated for Kosovo's defense budget, which it can allocate in cooperation with the United States of America, the European Union, Great Britain, and NATO for defense needs ," Basha emphasized.
