Rama starts the campaign by copying Basha...

Prime Minister Edi Rama has officially launched his political campaign, but what immediately caught attention was not only the mandatory participation of the public administration, but the scenography. With a backdrop adorned with the blue stars of the European Union, Rama seems to have chosen to copy the visual appearance of Lulzim Basha and the Democratic Party's campaign in the 2021 elections.
While at that time, Basha and the DP promised Albania's rapid integration into the European Union and an open fight against corruption, Edi Rama today uses the symbolism of the EU at a time when many of his closest associates are in prison or under investigation, precisely for serious corruption scandals. The irony lies in the fact that Rama promises Europe, while the system he leads is often cited as the main obstacle to the country's integration.
Rama's new approach raises debate about whether this is a desperate attempt to salvage the image of a government ravaged by scandals, or a deliberate strategy to appropriate the rhetoric and appearance of the opposition. In any case, citizens seem to be faced once again with a campaign where facade prevails over substance.
