Rama warns of new system in oil supply: It will bring control over prices

Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that the government will soon undertake a normative act that will affect strategic sectors such as drinking water and oil supply, with the aim of increasing state control and accelerating the path towards European integration.

Regarding the water supply sector, Rama announced that the government is aiming to create a national water distribution operator, according to the model followed in the energy sector.

According to the Prime Minister, the improvements from the merger of several existing operators are insufficient and it is time to move to a national model of water and waste management. He also added that work is underway to establish a new oil supply system, where the state will have a direct role in the implementation of contracts and guaranteeing supply.

Edi Rama: Very soon, we will need to make a normative act for this and for drinking water. We will put the 83 votes at the service of the citizens who are seeking a final breakthrough from the transition of European Albania to the heart, but not in reality, to Albania as a member of the EU.

All those who were on the May 11 team, whether elected or not to the Assembly, will be part of the team that will represent the country in the EU. They must be there to be there and to address all the issues.

We are sure that we need to move to another phase for the water service and we need to create a water distribution operator just like for energy, we need a new corporation to address the problem of investments, problems with donors and fragmentation of the source and management that after 30 or so years we can expect to bring us the desired result, although there are improvements from the merger of operators, but they are insufficient and we cannot wait. For water and waste management, we need to move to the national level.
We are working intensively on a new oil supply system, a necessity and opportunity to also move to oil supply with a new component of the state as a protagonist in the implementation of contracts and oil supply. Which we think will bring greater control over the price and circulation of oil.
