In an interview for the Context show on ATV Kosova, the political leader of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, Lulzim Basha, stressed the importance of the fight against corruption and support for SPAK. He harshly criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama, recalling that, in a tone of excitement, the latter had declared: “America withdrew its soldiers from SPAK.” But today, as Basha emphasized, Albanian media have published the news that the administration of former President Donald Trump has strongly restored specialized support for SPAK, considering the fight against corruption a US national security priority.

"This is wonderful news for Albanians and for Albania. The end of impunity for corrupt politicians is a non-negotiable condition for the country's economic development and international reputation," Basha declared.

He stressed that the Euro-Atlantic Coalition is the only political force that has supported SPAK with deeds – and not with words. Basha mentioned the draft laws deposited in the Assembly for more than a year, which aim to strengthen SPAK, vetting politicians and lifting parliamentary immunity, but which, according to him, have been blocked by the majority.

"For a year and a half, our proposals to give SPAK more legal power have been sitting in Parliament's drawers. They don't even dare to put it on the agenda, let alone vote on it," he said.

Basha also spoke about the standard that the Euro-Atlantic Coalition has set for candidates: each of them has signed a form for the purity of their image and is placed on open lists, available for the vote of citizens and for the control of the law.

"Unlike the closed lists of other parties that have become havens for corrupt politicians, we have people who are not afraid of investigations and the end of impunity. Rama and Berisha have built shields for themselves and for the corrupt who surround them, while we work for the public interest and justice. Because the greatest interest of Albanians is the rule of law, the implementation of the law and the uncompromising fight against corruption ," Basha said.
