Asset verification/ Belinda Balluku's house cleaners are also questioned

The house cleaners and driver of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku are among the first people to be questioned by SPAK as part of the investigation into her assets and activities. They were asked about the former minister's apartments, as well as details of her daily life, in function of the verifications being carried out by the prosecution.
The checks, which covered offices, apartments, luxury villas in the south of the country and various company premises, were carried out by order of SPAK and included a large number of people connected to the former senior official, who were subsequently summoned to provide explanations.
Among them is Viola Haxhiademi, former Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and currently director of the Albanian Power Corporation, who appeared on Thursday at SPAK to testify, being considered one of Balluk's close associates.
Laureta Omeri, a former advisor and one of the former minister's closest associates, who has also been subject to scrutiny, also provided explanations to investigators.
Business representatives have also been questioned as part of the investigation. Arbër Abazi, whose companies have won tenders from the Ministry of Infrastructure, has provided explanations for two procurement procedures. Meanwhile, Kujtim Hasa, representative of the company “Rruga Ura” in Elbasan, has handed over computer equipment to BKH investigators that is considered important for the investigation.
In recent days, other businessmen have also appeared at SPAK, whose companies have had documents and electronic equipment seized.
The SPAK investigation into Belinda Balluku is related to suspicions of abuses in major public tenders, including the construction of the Llogara tunnel and the lots of the Grand Ring Road, while at this stage the focus has also expanded to verifying her assets and those of people associated with her.
