The loudest divorce/ How Fatos Nano declared the separation from Rexhina on television, was crowned after a year with Xhoana

One of the loudest Albanian divorces was that of Fatos Nano, the former president of the SP in October 2001. The former prime minister Nano married at the age of 24 with Rexhina, the girl he met in the first years of his life. "Sami Frashëri" high school in the capital.

After 27 years of marriage and 2 children, they divorced causing quite a stir. In an interview for "Opinion" in 2001, Fatos Nano declared publicly directly on television the separation from Rexhina and the relationship with his current wife, Xhoana, 21 years younger.

" I have initiated the divorce proceedings. I formalized my unfortunately irreversible stay with the court. They are reasons for interweaving my family life with suffering, joy, consumption and the effect of politics and the political career of the leader of the opposition yesterday and the majority today. There are many human reasons that happened, I regret that they happened to me and that lead me to the public display of this morality. In court, Nano took on the burden of guilt for the separation and only 1 year later he crowned his love with Xhoana in a ceremony in the Orthodox Church of Tirana. Former Prime Minister Nano's separation and second marriage were events that attracted attention and left a mark on public opinion as they challenged the mentality of the time.

After withdrawing from politics, Nano led a life between Vienna and Tirana. His appearances in the media are extremely rare.
