Will the war in Ukraine end? Putin holds phone conversation with the leaders of Finland and Norway

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation today with his Finnish counterpart, Alexander Stubb, and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, according to a statement from the Finnish President's Office.

According to the statement, the conversation was initiated by Stubb and Støre, who discussed with the Russian leader Russia's war against Ukraine, diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, as well as opportunities to guarantee peace and stability in Europe.

The Finnish president's office clarified that the two leaders participated in this communication on behalf of their respective countries and not on behalf of Europe as a whole.

The call comes after reports from Bloomberg, which had earlier announced that Putin was expected to hold a conversation with Stubb and Støre to discuss the possibility of reaching a peace agreement for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin had previously stated that it would neither confirm nor deny reports regarding the development of this telephone conversation.
