Medical Student: I want to contribute to Albania, but conditions are pushing us

A medical student, who joined the protest in front of the Ministry of Education, has raised concerns about the study conditions and the problems faced by young people preparing to practice medicine in Albania.

In a statement to News24, the student stated that the lack of appropriate conditions at universities and the numerous problems in the health system are directly affecting the future of students.

She emphasized that their demands have not received the appropriate response, while calling on students from other faculties to join the protest, as the problems of higher education affect all young people.

The student confessed that she chose Medicine with the desire to contribute to her country, but the current conditions make her professional future uncertain. She said that she is protesting precisely so that, after completing six years of study, she will not be forced to seek a future outside Albania.

"We are protesting for better conditions, for better buildings, for better halls. Healthcare in Albania has massive problems. We are here in protest so that our voice can be heard. Not all conditions have been met, we have fallen on deaf ears. We have gathered here with a call for all students, because it is not just our cause. We have come here for an issue that affects us all, so we want everyone's support. We need to be as many as possible. We also call on other faculties to join us.

I was convinced that I would work in my country, I would contribute to my country. Medicine is a mission, you have a lot to learn from this profession. But with all these limitations and poor conditions, I am here for better conditions, so that I do not leave after 6 years. We thank you as the media, for being by our side," she said.
