He never married and had no children, the "unsaid" facts of billionaire Giorgio Armani

Famed Italian designer Giorgio Armani died Thursday at the age of 91. During more than five decades at the top of the fashion scene, Armani became a global icon, building an empire that includes clothing, perfumes, accessories, hotel lines and other luxury products.
Giorgio Armani was born in the city of Piacenza on July 11, 1934. He initially studied medicine at the University of Milan, but dropped out after three years to devote himself to his passion for art and aesthetics. After his military service, he began working in the retail sector of “La Rinascente”, one of the most famous department stores in Milan, where he gained his first experience in the world of fashion.
In the 1960s, Armani worked as a designer for Nino Cerruti, where he created men's clothing lines. His experience during this period gave him the confidence to build his own unique style, a simple elegance combined with clean, practical lines.
In 1975, together with his partner Sergio Galeotti, he founded Giorgio Armani SPA. The brand quickly became synonymous with understated luxury and modern minimalism. His first collections for men and women marked a revolution in fashion, putting an end to rigid suits and replacing them with a looser, more elegant silhouette.
The 1980s brought Armani's explosion of fame. His suits became a symbol of young Wall Street professionals and were widely used in Hollywood films, most notably in the film American Gigolo (1980) starring Richard Gere, which gave the brand an international boost.
Armani created various lines, including Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, Armani Jeans and Armani Privé, extending his influence from haute couture to everyday fashion.
Armani is considered a pioneer of the concept of "simple elegance" - luxury without exaggeration. He removed the strict division between work and leisure fashion, creating clothes that offered comfort, finesse and durability over time.
Many Hollywood stars, such as Richard Gere, Michelle Pfeiffer, Cate Blanchett and Leonardo DiCaprio, have worn his creations on the international stage. Armani always maintained a reserved profile about his private life. He never married and had no biological children.
In addition to his success in the fashion world, Armani was a successful entrepreneur and a committed philanthropist. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he contributed millions of euros to hospitals and health institutions in Italy. He also created the Armani Foundation, to ensure the continuity and support of humanitarian and cultural projects.
According to Bloomberg and Forbes, his fortune is estimated at between $7 billion and $12 billion, making him one of the richest Italians. He maintained full control over his company until the end, rejecting any offer to sell or merge with the giants of the luxury industry.
