American rapper dies in car accident while trying to escape police

Rapper Young Scooter, 39, has died after a crash while trying to escape police in Atlanta. Authorities say he suffered a serious leg injury while trying to climb over a fence and later died at the hospital.

His death was confirmed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office. The fatal accident occurred on his birthday, when police responded to a report of shots fired at a home on William Nye Drive SE.

After officers arrived, two men fled the home, and one of them jumped the fence in an attempt to escape. Police stressed that Bailey's injury occurred during the escape and was not caused by the officers, The Guardian reports.

Bailey was immediately taken to Grady Marcus Hospital for treatment, but died of his injuries a few hours later.
