The 76th anniversary of the first anti-communist uprising in Postriba

On September 9, 1946, the first anti-communist uprising in the country was organized.
This uprising took place in Postriba, a movement instigated mainly by the clergy with the support of nationalist elements. The first meetings were aimed at the broad participation of the villages and residents of the city of Shkodra, the Directorate of Archives announces.
In July, a meeting was held at Cin Serreq's house. In Shegaj of Ibros in Postriba, under the direction of Osman Haxhi, the main representatives of the tribes, including from Hoti i Ri, gathered.
The well-known representative of the Kazakh tribe, Jup Kazazi, who had a great authority in Shkodër and the surrounding villages, also participated in this meeting.
The nationalist forces of Ndoc Kol Biba in Iball of Puka and Mark Gjonmarkaj in Mirdita, were in solidarity with this meeting of the assembly through a letter they sent to him.
In the assembly, the starting date of the uprising was determined, which would have a general character and would begin with the release of political prisoners in the prisons of Shkodra and beyond.
The call of the soldier boys, on 09.09.1946, prompted the meeting on 09.07.1946 at the house of Abdullah Sahit in the village of Kullaj, where it was allowed that the next day after lunch, the Bajraktars and the first people, about 150 people, would gather in the village of Kodër Boks in the place called Shegat e Ibros.
Leader Osman Haxhia convinced the participants to start the uprising on 09.09.1946.
Postriba's uprising was suppressed by the regime by sending numerous forces. Osman Haxhia was caught and sentenced, while Jup Kazazi, surrounded by state forces, committed suicide and his corpse was paraded through the streets of Shkodra to deliver a message.
