Granit Xhaka at the center of the transfer market, Bayer Leverkusen director: We want to keep him!

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has confirmed the efforts of several European clubs to transfer Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka.
At the press conference, Rolfes stated: " Granit Xhaka is an important player for us. Our interest is to keep him in the team. Of course there is a lot of interest in him. One thing is clear, a transfer can only happen if it is a win-win situation for both parties.
"We have a three-year contract with him and we are satisfied. Our goal is for Granit to stay. The player himself has not commented on these things."
Among the teams that have shown interest are AC Milan, Premier League side Sunderland, as well as wealthy clubs from Saudi Arabia – such as Neom SC. Sunderland are being monitored more specifically as a potential destination where Xhaka could offer experience and leadership in midfield.
However, Rolfes stressed that Bayer Leverkusen have a contract with Xhaka until 2028 and his current position is with the German club, while any move will only happen if it is beneficial for both parties.
