Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, wore the famous number 10 shirt after being assigned the number during the 1958 World Cup.
He won the World Cup with Brazil three times – in 1958, 1962 and 1970 – a feat no other player has achieved.
Pelé began playing professionally for Santos FC at the age of 15.
He joined the Brazil national team at the age of 16.
In 1958, at the age of 17, Pelé became the youngest player to score in a World Cup.
The record, which Pelé set as the youngest player to win the World Cup trophy, at the age of 17, still stands.
In the 1970 World Cup, Pelé recorded six assists – a record for a World Cup.
Pelé is Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer, with 77 goals in 92 international appearances, alongside Neymar, who scored his 77th goal at the 2022 World Cup.
