UEFA rejects Real Madrid's appeal against Rüdiger, Mbappé and Ceballos' punishments

UEFA on Monday dismissed the complaint filed by Real Madrid regarding the sanctions imposed on players Antonio Rüdiger, Kylian Mbappé and Dani Ceballos, which came after the second leg against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, held in March.
The European institution has also confirmed the fine against the Madrid club for the behavior of some of the fans during the match against Arsenal in London.
Rüdiger, Mbappé and Ceballos have been fined 40,000, 30,000 and 20,000 euros respectively for "breach of fundamental rules of decent conduct", according to article 11.2.b of UEFA's disciplinary regulations.
These sanctions come after Atlético Madrid complained about the gestures of Real players after the end of the derby.
The German defender was booked for a hand-to-neck gesture, while the French striker was fined for provoking opposing fans. Dani Ceballos was also punished for similar behavior.
In addition to the fines, Rüdiger and Mbappé have each been suspended for one match in UEFA competitions, but this suspension is conditional for one year and will only be enforced in the event of a repeat offense.
In its decision, UEFA stressed that there are no grounds to overturn the decisions taken by the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee on 4 April, clarifying that "the appeal lodged by Real Madrid CF is dismissed.
As a result, the Committee's decision remains in effect."
On the other hand, UEFA has announced that no disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Vinícius Júnior, despite him being mentioned by the opposing fans during that derby.
The case of the racist incident at the Emirates Stadium
The same Committee has also confirmed another punishment for Real Madrid for an incident that occurred during the quarter-final first leg against Arsenal on April 8 in London.
At that match, a Real Madrid fan performed a Nazi salute, an act considered racist behavior under article 14.2 of UEFA's disciplinary regulations.
For this incident, Real Madrid has been fined 15,000 euros and banned from selling tickets to its fans for its next away match in European competitions.
However, this sentence has also been suspended conditionally for one year and will only come into effect in the event of a repeat offense.
