Xavi is waiting: I would love to work in the Premier League...

Xavi Hernández, former Barcelona player and coach, says he would love to work in the Premier League because of the passion that permeates its stadiums, while admitting that in Spain, a lot depends on results.
Xavi, who has not been a coach since leaving Barcelona in May 2024, gave a lengthy interview to The Athletic, in which he spoke about his passion for football and his future plans.
"I'm not in a hurry, but I would like a good project. A project where they tell me: 'You have four years to work and develop a project'. I would really like to work in the Premier League, because I love the passion there. In Spain, everything is about results," he said.
As Barcelona coach, between November 2021 and May 2024, he won a La Liga and a Spanish Super Cup, after having won several titles during his time as coach of Al-Sadd in Qatar.
"Look at what happened to the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, with everyone criticising him. It's not fair. He has won 30 titles in 10 years and they criticise him as if he had won nothing.
Ernesto Valverde explained it perfectly: "If they criticize Ancelotti, what hope is there for the rest? The pressure in Spain is very difficult, especially in Barcelona and Madrid," he said of the Real Madrid coach, who was criticized after Real Madrid's elimination in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
"Chelsea with (Enzo) Maresca, a good project, Arsenal with (Mikel) Arteta, a good project. It's his sixth year there and there have been difficult seasons, but the club trusted the process and continued. This doesn't happen in Spain," reiterated the winner of 8 La Liga titles, 3 Copa del Rey titles, 4 Champions League titles and two Club World Cup titles as a player for FC Barcelona.
Two-time European Cup winner (2008 and 2012) and winner of the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, as a member of the Spanish national team, Xavi has also stated that he would very much like to coach a national team and that, when he dreamed of becoming a coach, he had dreamed of winning a World Cup or a European Cup.
Furthermore, Xavi does not rule out the possibility of one day managing the Spanish national team: "Why not? Or any other national team. I am in no hurry. I am not obsessed with where I want to train. I am happy watching football and being with my family."
"The most matches I've ever watched in one day was eight. I like to analyse teams. I might put 'Atalanta' on my computer and watch four matches in a row. Why? Because I'm interested in what (Gian Piero) Gasperini is doing," he commented.
