Veliaj's transfer to Fier, Minister of Justice reacts: The responsibility lies with the Prisons

The Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, has ordered an inspection of the procedures for the transfer of Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj, from Durrës prison to Fier.

In response to the request of Socialist MPs Bledi Çuçi and Fatmir Xhafaj for clarification on this transfer, Gogu announced that he had requested verification of the case.

The Minister says that responsibility for procedures and decision-making on prisoner transfers lies with the General Directorate of Prisons.

Çuçi and Xhafaj had requested relevant documentation and information to clarify the circumstances and legal basis for Veliaj's transfer to Fier prison.
