The most famous internet memes keep his funny face and will continue for a long time.
But Cheems, the dog, most popular of social networks has died.
Since 2017, the dog of the Japanese breed "Shiba Inu" had made Internet users fall in love with its cute and extravagant face, but also for the fact that it is the symbol of the cryptocurrency with the same name.
Otherwise known as Ball Ball, the dog was 12 years old and had been suffering from health problems for some time. The pup's battle with the disease was shared with fans by his owners on Cheems' specially created Instagram account, which has more than 800,000 followers.
The announcement of his death was also made there, in a post that received more than 900,000 likes and over 30,000 comments.
“Ball Ball passed away on Friday morning during his final surgery. We wanted to arrange chemotherapy or other possible treatments after this operation, but now it is too late. Don't be sad. Don't forget the joy Ball Ball has brought to the world. A Shiba Inu with a round, smiling face that has allowed us to bond, that has helped many people during the pandemic, and has brought so much joy to so many of you," Cheems' owners wrote.
At the end they clarify that donations made for the dog's medical bills will now be donated to charity for other animals in need.
