Say "goodbye" to mobile phones! All the tech giants are investing, they will be replaced with...

The end of mobile phones as we know them is approaching. But what will replace them in the near future?
30 years ago, no one imagined that a small phone in the palm of your hand would become as indispensable as your keys or your wallet. Today, however, smartphones are already starting to look… outdated.
Tech giants are preparing for the post-mobile era, where screens will disappear from our pockets and be replaced by wearable augmented reality (AR) devices, such as glasses, watches, headphones or even bracelets.
Mark Zuckerberg is planning the "successor" of the mobile phone
Facebook founder and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has invested billions of dollars in the so-called metaverse, a digital space where people work, communicate and have fun in a more natural way than on a simple mobile screen.
At the center of this vision are the Orion AR glasses, which Meta has been developing for the past few years. Orion is not just another wearable device, as it is connected to a smart bracelet that reads the muscle signals of the hand and converts the movements into commands, allowing the user to manipulate their digital environment without holding anything.
The product is expected to be introduced in a pilot project in 2026, with a price tag of up to $10,000, at least initially.
For everyday users, Meta is planning a more affordable version, called Artemis, which will be smaller, lighter, and more practical. It is expected to go on sale by 2027.
The new ecosystem of wearable devices
The next generation of devices won't be limited to glasses. Headsets with a built-in camera and artificial intelligence are coming that will analyze the environment in real time.
The new smartwatches will connect directly to the glasses, forming a complete interconnected ecosystem that won't need a mobile phone to function. The idea is to transport us to an era where technology "disappears" from our hands and becomes an extension of our bodies and environments.
Mobile phones are reaching the end of their life cycle
Zuckerberg himself has stated that smartphones were just a transitional phase in the flow of technology. Today they are the center of communication, entertainment, and organization of our lives, but their physical form limits the imagination of companies.
Meta, Apple, Google, and Microsoft are already investing large sums of money in artificial intelligence and augmented reality, aiming to create the next big leap.
The real obstacle to this transition is one: People!
The technological future is ready, the question is whether we are ready.
The biggest challenge, as Met's engineers themselves admit, is not developing hardware or software, but how to convince users to give up their mobile phones.
