AKZM: “Blue Eye” Natural Park now open to visit and safe for

The National Agency for Protected Areas declared today that the "Blue Eye" Natural Park in Saranda is now open to tourists and safe for everyone.

AKZM appeals for caution and vigilance, as well as for state structures to be notified of any situation.

AKZM employees conducted a field inspection on the situation in the “Blue Eye” Natural Park the day before. The preliminary assessment shows that 30.66 ha of the area within the park has been burned or deforested.

AKZM, together with the staff of the Vlora AdZM and state structures, are fully committed to restoring security to the community, entities in the area and the many visitors to the natural park.

"The analysis of damages and losses from forest and pasture fires is one of the necessary measures for the recovery phase. Solidarity, joining efforts, psychological and emotional recovery are the principles that guide us in this recovery phase ," emphasizes AKZM.

The fire that started in the village of Krane, in the Mesopotam administrative unit, spread to the village of Pecë, which was very close to the Blue Eye, but thanks to the continuous commitment of state structures, it was possible to extinguish the flames, preventing them from spreading to this protected natural monument.

The Ministry of Defense announced last night that work continued in this Park to extinguish the fire on the heights of Sopot Mountain. 67 firefighting forces with 11 vehicles, 30 municipal forces, 80 Armed Forces personnel with 10 vehicles, 6 ambulances and 30 support forces were engaged in the field. The Italian “Canadair” aircraft was also in support of extinguishing the fire.
