DASH issues new warning/ Major American media: Beware in Albania, there may be

A series of well-known American media outlets such as 'People' magazine, the Cleveland newspaper, or even specialized portals such as 'Travel + Leisure' and 'Parade' have echoed American warnings that Albania is being targeted by groups linked to Iran.

'People' magazine emphasizes that the State Department has issued a new warning, while previously it was the American embassy in Tirana that informed citizens to be careful.

"The U.S. State Department has issued a new warning for Americans visiting a European travel destination that continues to grow in popularity among foreign tourists.

Earlier this month, the US Embassy in Tirana, Albania, encouraged American citizens to "exercise increased vigilance" while visiting the European capital.

The April 1 security alert specifically mentioned that "Iranian-linked groups may seek to strike US-linked entities or Iranian opposition elements in Albania."

The alert further warns that these groups "may also target common places, such as tourist sites, shopping malls, hotels, clubs and restaurants," People magazine writes.

“The State Department recommends that Americans remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, monitor local media, and keep their cell phones charged in case of an emergency.

Currently, Albania is categorized with only a Level 2 travel advisory from the State Department. This designation recommends travelers "exercise increased caution." The advisory, last updated on December 31, 2024, cites crime as the main cause for concern.

Despite the warnings, Albanian authorities emphasize that "there is no concrete information regarding a real threat to security," according to a press release translated by the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, the American media further emphasizes.
