After the testimony given by the 23-year-old's family and the seizure of security cameras from businesses along the Burrel-Tirana national axis, the investigative group also made it possible to identify the suspected perpetrators of the macabre crime.
One of them is Petrit Çakrri , an eyewitness to the murder of former Democratic Party MP Azem Hajdari on the evening of September 12, 1998.
Investigations have revealed that Çakrri rented two vehicles in Rinas, a black Range Rover and a white Honda.
Petrit Çakrri, who after giving testimony in what is known as the Trial of the Century, turns out to have had numerous criminal proceedings, from thefts to clashes with the police.
In 2017, he was arrested on suspicion of fraud with serious consequences. The indictment stated that he had defrauded a businessman from Vora, from whom he had taken an amount of 4.4 million new lek by presenting himself as a merchant.
To whom he had promised to provide goods at cheaper prices than the market.
Çakrri, who was betrayed by the security cameras and GPS of the car he had rented and used in the crime.
From where, through video footage, investigators were able to discover the vehicle rental point, where it appears that after handing over the cars used in the crime, they rented other vehicles.
But, the discovery of the car's GPS enabled the investigation team to determine that the vehicle in which Çakrri, who has now changed his surname to Hoxha, was traveling, moved in the same trajectory as Renis Dobra.
After the crime, Petrit Çakrri left Albania and is believed to have exited the country through the Morina border crossing.
While his nephew was detained by the police and his cell phone was seized, where it is believed that numerous pieces of evidence were found that could reveal further details about the murder of Renis Dobra.
