On Sunday, September 28, 2025, a shocking incident occurred near Anderlecht, along a highway in Belgium. A body was found hanging from the back of a road sign. At first, passersby thought it was a Halloween decoration – but it was actually a lifeless body, tied to a rope or cable. It is learned that the victim is Albanian Bekim Halilaj, 29 years old from Kukës.

Authorities immediately arrived at the scene and the prosecutor's office opened a murder investigation. A source close to the case said the case "resembles the methods of Mexican cartels," a method of execution not previously seen in the Belgian capital.

Meanwhile, media reports have revealed that a man named Bekim Halilaj has previously been convicted in the UK for drug trafficking. In 2017, Halilaj and three others were arrested by Hampshire Police after an operation uncovered the distribution of over £4m worth of cocaine in Southampton.
Halilaj was caught with drugs and cash at Carrington House – which was the drug manufacturing base – and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. The gang operated illegally in the UK and had built sophisticated networks to hide the drugs.

It has not yet been officially confirmed whether the body found in Belgium is the same as this individual, but authorities do not rule out the possibility that we are dealing with an act related to international organized crime. Investigations are ongoing.
