Greek farmers on strike, Kakavija informs all travelers: From 19:00, the road to Ioannina will be blocked

The Border Police informs all travelers who want to travel from Albania to Greece, through Kakavija Customs, that they should take into account that today, from 19:00 until further notice, the Kakavija-Ioannina road axis, at the intersection of the village of Kallpaq, will be blocked.
The reason, according to the Border Police announcement, is the protest of Greek farmers who announced this Wednesday that they may start a strike.
At customs, after this time, only vehicles with health emergencies will be allowed to circulate. The Kakavija Border Police asks for citizens' understanding and suggests planning vehicle trips at other times of the day.
Farmers and herders in Western Greece are preparing to go on strike starting today, Wednesday, demanding fundamental and immediate solutions to the problems they are experiencing.
They are protesting against high production costs and cuts in subsidies from OPEC. A new blockade has been set up outside the Megalochori intersection in Trikala, while the total number of tractors participating in the mobilization in Thessaly exceeds 4,000.
Due to the blockades, the Athens-Thessaloniki National Road remains closed at the height of Nikaia and the E-65 at Karditsa. The farmers' protest and the blockades have also caused traffic paralysis in other countries, such as the customs with North Macedonia and Turkey.
