On Thursday evening, on the "Opinion" show on TV Klan, former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji discussed the current political situation and developments within the DP, making a series of strong statements.
In front of journalist Blendi Fevziu, Salianji spoke about the demotivation of structures, the lack of civic mobilization, the need for the unity of the democrats, as well as his role in the party leadership. He emphasized the necessity of restoring meritocracy in the DP and the appreciation of every contribution.
He also answered the question of why he is not running for party leader in the DP against Berisha.
Ervin Salianji: The defect is this, that we need to find two roads, or motivate Albanians to come out and fill the squares, we lack a boulevard.
Blendi Fevziu: What prevents you from doing this?
Ervin Salianji: Demotivation of the structure, demotivation of the democrats. We lack a boulevard because most of the protesters come from the structure.
Blendi Fevziu: The structure is insufficient to win elections. You have no impact on the gray electorate and citizens beyond the structure.
Ervin Salianji: I'm speaking frankly, when we have motivated the structures, it seems that we don't know that we don't have citizens in the square. We need to return the credit and establish some criteria. We need to unite the Democratic Party.
Blendi Fevziu: Do you have support within the DP?
Ervin Salianji: The MPs were meant to have an institution, which is the Parliamentary Group, to express their concerns and for this reason it was meant for us, me as a member of the DP Presidency, to give a voice to anyone who has no voice.
Blendi Fevziu: Have you spoken to the Presidency about this?
Ervin Salianji: At every meeting.
Blendi Fevziu: The DP Assembly is taking place in four months, there are elections. Why don't you run with a platform for party leader against Mr. Berisha?
Ervin Salianji: I don't have this! I haven't decided! I'm saying this that the DP should be strengthened with all its elements. We should appreciate the contribution of every chairman even in the most remote section.
