Will you run against Berisha next year? Here's how Alimehmeti responds

Ilir Alimehmeti, head of the Health Department in the Democratic Party, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, was asked if he would run for president of the Democratic Party in 2026 when Berisha's mandate ends and he has expressed his willingness to run again. Alimehmeti firmly stated that he would not run.

Rakipi: There will be elections in the DP next year, will you run?

Alimehmeti: Personally, no.

Rakipi: You, as a candidate, or as a group, because Uran Butka is no longer coming to you, once again, Uran Butka is no longer coming there to run.

Alimehmeti: I told you at the beginning of the show how I perceive this and why I stand there. And what I stood for here too, and I'm saying it and repeating it several times until the answer is received.

Mërtiri: Your answer is, I believe, clearly no, and from this aspect, I do not conceive of this as an anti-mayor movement.  

Rakipi: Yes, participating in the elections as a candidate is not an anti-mayor movement.

Alimehmeti: Okay, let the candidates go.

Alimehmeti: No, I don't go there. Not as a mayor, then there are different levels.

Mërtiri: This is not a matter of war.

Rakipi: This guy is looking for his place, brother, as a leader he won't find it on his own. He wants his place, which he deserves.

Mërtiri: It doesn't mean you have to be anti-Berisha, but you have some reservations about this and you are for the idea that it can. Why don't you say to another leader that you are anti-Berisha, it's not like you say you hate Berisha or I'm not even saying that.

Alimehmeti: I am speaking very clearly.

Mërtiri: Will someone run against Berisha? Or will I run alone?

Alimehmeti: I'll come out, someone will express their ambition, if they think about it.

Mërtiri: If you have a different vision, a different vision. Why don't you run for this vision? To carry forward this vision. No, you personally.
