Albanian 'hawker' gang busted in Turin, 42-year-old arrested, 2

A 42-year-old Albanian man has been arrested as a member of a "hawk" gang, suspected of committing robberies in the Turin area in Italy, also using weapons.

This morning, March 21, during routine patrols in Turin, UPGSP police officers, passing through Via Sospello, noticed a man using a flashlight to peer into the top of a door.

Upon arriving at the building, the officers decided to conduct a search inside the building and as they approached the door, they heard some noises coming from inside. Suddenly, a few moments later, three individuals emerged and fled in two different directions, throwing various objects to the ground.

However, the officers' quick action allowed them to arrest the forty-two-year-old Albanian and establish that the three perpetrators had gained access to the basements by forcing open the locks.

Along the entrance road where two of the three fleeing individuals, including the arrested person, were walking, officers found a handgun, reported stolen during a previous burglary, with a round loaded in the magazine.

Also a bag containing quantities of gold, several rings, bracelets, pendants and valuable watches, most likely proceeds from crime.

Furthermore, after a personal search, 740 euros were found on the Albanian, also most likely proceeds from crime.

The police continue the search for the other two perpetrators and the unraveling of all criminal activity.
