Kosovo-Albania free movement agreement suspended

From October 1st until early November, the agreement on free movement between the border points of Vërmica and Morina is temporarily suspended.
During this period, citizens and vehicle drivers will undergo the usual registration procedures, but with an expedited process, to avoid long waits caused by the high flow of passengers.
However, for weekends and official holidays, traffic facilitation remains in effect: vehicles with Albanian and Kosovo license plates will pass without border controls.
The free movement agreement, established to facilitate circulation and avoid heavy traffic, has shown positive effects, especially during the summer season.
Under the current scheme, periods without checks or with reduced checks extend from May 1 to September 30.
