"I am saying goodbye to the man I spent a quarter of a century with", Xhoana Nano: Today is the darkest day of my life

With tears in her eyes and a trembling voice, Xhoana Nano, the wife of former Prime Minister Fatos Nano, delivered a heartfelt speech during the farewell ceremony for her husband, describing today as the darkest and saddest day of her life.

“I am parting with the man I spent a quarter of a century with,” she said, recalling not only the love but also the dreams, hopes and disappointments they shared together. She recounted how, as a young girl, she fell in love with Fatos not only as a person, but also with his vision for a different Albania — away from barbarism and revenge, towards a civil, modern and European course.

"This day is like this for our children too, "
