Rainfall in Albania, Ministry of Defense: The most problematic situation in Gjirokastër! Here are the blocked axes

The Ministry of Defense has published an update on the situation in the country as a result of bad weather, where intense rain and snow, accompanied by low temperatures, have caused numerous problems in several regions. The most affected are mountainous areas and those near rivers, where difficulties have been identified in road traffic, electricity supply and the safety of residents.
According to the official announcement, the Gjirokastër Region presents the most problematic situation. In the Gjirokastër Municipality, there is snow in the Picar Administrative Unit, while the Drino River on the Gjirokastër-Tepelena axis has approached the roadbed, requiring immediate intervention to strengthen the embankment. Also, work is being done to open several blocked road axes in the Odrie, Lunzhëri and Zagori areas, as well as to repair a small bridge on the Krinë-Tranoshisht-Saraqinishtë axis.
In the Municipality of Dropull, the Glina bridge remains problematic, while work continues to clear the Pogon–Dropull and Zagori–Libohovë axes, blocked by snow. A difficult situation is also present in the Municipality of Përmet, where the Përmet–Dogana e Tre Urave axis is blocked, as well as in the Administrative Unit of Frashër and the surrounding villages due to heavy snowfall.
In the Municipality of Memaliaj, erosion of agricultural lands by the Vjosa River is reported, while in Tepelena, traffic on the Tepelena-Gjirokastër axis, in the area called "Black Staircase", is carried out with only one lane.
The Lezha region has been affected by snowfall in low-lying areas, including the city of Lezha. The responsible structures are on standby to keep the road axes open, while the repair of the damaged embankment on the Drojë River has been completed.
In the Vlora Region, an improvement in the situation regarding the Vjosa River flows is reported. The underpass in the village of Bishan remains blocked, but there are no reports of flooded homes, only the presence of water in yards.
The Elbasan region is facing snow and frost in the mountainous areas of the Elbasan and Peqin municipalities, where several rural roads have been blocked by snow and landslides. Vehicles and workers are on the ground to normalize the situation.
Dibër Region also remains among the most affected areas. Civil emergency forces are intervening on several roads with ice and landslides, while OSHEE teams are working to restore electricity to the administrative units of Bulqizë, Klos, Dibër and Lura. Some road segments are currently impassable, but police are on the ground directing traffic.
