Critical situation/ Fire endangers apartments and nursing home in Poliçan

A powerful fire continues to burn in the municipality of Poliçan, outside the territory of the Mechanical Plant, covering an area of bushes and olive groves. The flames have crossed the water supply line and are dangerously close to a group of houses, as well as the city's Nursing Home.

Firefighters from the municipalities of Poliçan, Berat, Skrapar, Lushnje, Patos and Roskovec are working on the ground, supported by 60 troops of the Armed Forces and air intervention.

Despite intensive efforts, the fire has not yet been brought under control.

The Ministry of Defense announces that the firefighting operation continues with high intensity, with the aim of avoiding further spread towards residential areas.

The situation remains critical, while forces on the ground are working non-stop to neutralize the threat.
