More troubles for Vlora Airport/ Munich Airport closes branch in Albania

The company that manages Munich Airport has decided to close its branch in Albania, definitively abandoning the project to manage Vlora Airport.
Kapitali has learned that the board of directors of Munich Airport International GmbH has decided to permanently close the branch opened in Albania, through its liquidation.
" The Board of Directors has decided that it is in the best interest of the company to cease the activities of its branch in Albania and to initiate the relevant liquidation and deregistration procedures in accordance with Albanian legislation," the decision of the Board of Munich Airport International GmbH states.
The company that manages Munich Airport came to Albania in March last year with the sole purpose of operating Vlora Airport.
According to the concession contract, the construction company Vlora International Airport is obliged to hand over the 35-year operation of Vlora airport to an experienced company, as none of its shareholders, both Pacolli's Mabco and Valon Ademi's 2A Group, have experience in operating airports.
VIA had presented to the Albanian government an agreement with Munich Airport to fulfill this condition. Behghet Pacolli has even publicly stated that Vlora Airport would be managed by the Munich Airport company.
But after the fight between him and Valon Ademi, Munich Airport decided to leave, leaving Pacolli and Ademi in their conflict.
With the departure of this company, Vlora airport has another major problem beyond construction, which is likely not to be completed even this year. Who will manage it, if the airport construction is completed one day? Kapitali.al
