Albanian man in France sentenced to prison after being caught with 120 kg of drugs in his car

An Albanian citizen has been convicted by the Perpignan court in France after being caught with 120 kilograms of cannabis in his car during a check on November 22. His vehicle was transporting the drugs to Italy and had been modified to hide the packages.

During the hearing, the young man, around 30 years old, claimed that he was acting under duress to repay a debt of 30,000 euros. His lawyer argued that his client was a victim of fear for his and his family's safety, but the court rejected this defense.

According to the decision, the Albanian was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment, a 5-year ban on entry into French territory, and his car was confiscated, while he was also fined 238,000 euros for customs violations.

This case comes after verifications showed that he had participated in several other drug trips and had documented parts of his activity on social media.
