VOA: Albanians believe President Trump will support their country

In Tirana, citizens think that the new American administration under President Donald Trump will pay increased attention to Albania, Kosovo, and the Balkans, because Albanians are the most pro-American nation in the world.

They believe that Albanian-American relations will be further strengthened, based on the excellent century-old tradition.

"Albania's relations with the United States are ancient and began many, many years ago, and we believe that they will always be better. We hope that this time too, President Trump will support us in fully integrating Albania into the European Union, because this is our dream. We hope to have cultural and economic, political and defense exchanges with the United States ," Arvina Lleshi, a law student at the University of Tirana, told Voice of America.

Meanwhile, writer Agim Lika said that Albanian-American relations have been consolidated for years and he believes that they will continue to strengthen further.

" We are part of the North Atlantic Alliance and Albanians, Albania and Kosovo, are the most pro-American nation in the world. There will be no rift in these relations and they will only develop further ," Mr. Lika told Voice of America.

Lawyer Aldo Çomani said he is confident that President Trump will have an eye on Albania, because we are historical partners.

" I believe that the United States will continue to help Albania. This does not change ," Mr. Çomani told Voice of America.

Albanian Leta Hila has lived in Chicago since 1997, and attended President Trump's inauguration ceremonies from Tirana.

"I believe that the arrival of Donald Trump is a blessing and a hope for Albania. I hope that his governance will be a good development for both Kosovo and Albania, both from a political and economic point of view ," Ms. Hila told Voice of America.

Retired mechanic Sulejman Xhia believes that the new American administration will not bring any major changes to Albanian-American relations.

"We are waiting to see what will happen, because with what Mr. Trump has declared, the world is a little anxious, so concrete implementations are expected. However, for us Albanians there will be no negative development, but for us there will only be good ," Mr. Xhia told Voice of America.

Meanwhile, hundreds of citizens watched President Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony live on large screens.

The rally was accompanied by an exhibition of 35 graphic works by renowned artist Avni Delvina, as well as an album of 55 graphic works dedicated to President Trump./VOA
