28-year-old Vangjel Balla, accused of murder in Albania and sentenced to 12 years in prison, has been arrested in Bolzano, Italy.
The state police announced that they have initiated extradition procedures for him to face Albanian justice.
Balla, together with his brother, Aleksandër, from Dibra, stabbed a 36-year-old man to death in 2018 after a conflict over weak motives.
After the crime, Aleksandër Balla was arrested, while the 28-year-old managed to escape.
"Dibera Police during the night hours, thanks to well-organized work based on information received in the operational way, made it possible to locate and find the location of the suspected perpetrator of the murder that occurred on 30.09.2018"

From the investigative actions carried out, it is suspected that citizen Aleksandër Balla, during a conflict for weak motives in a bar in the village of Arras, in collaboration with his brother Vangjel Balla (arrested), stabbed citizen IZ, 36 years old, resident of the village of Sinë, Arras Administrative Unit.
"The investigative materials will be transferred to the Prosecution Office at the First Instance Court of Dibër for the criminal offense of "Premeditated Murder", committed in collaboration, provided for by Articles 78 and 25 of the Penal Code," the police statement said immediately after the event.
