Lawyers' boycott, Erion Veliaj's trial postponed at the GJKKO

The court hearing against the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, at the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) has been postponed.

The court fined the lawyers 50 thousand lek each, while the hearing was postponed to October 13.

The postponement of the hearing comes at a time when lawyers continue their protest against the new regulation, which came into effect on September 1.

Lawyers consider this regulation unconstitutional and, in protest, have decided to boycott court hearings at the GJKKO, including security measures.

The lawyers' boycott continues to affect the conduct of court hearings at the Special Court, while the case against Erion Veliaj is expected to continue on October 13.
