Alarm in the Middle East, Germany and the Netherlands instruct their citizens to leave the United Arab Emirates

German and Dutch citizens in the United Arab Emirates have been told to leave if their stays are no longer necessary.

The Dutch embassy has reminded its citizens in the country that it had issued a code orange travel alert – warning against all but essential travel – at the start of the war.

"Consider whether your stay in the United Arab Emirates is still necessary. If this is no longer the case, leave the country," the published notice said.

Those who choose to stay have been advised to "prepare for a situation that could worsen" and to check their travel documents.

German citizens have also received similar advice.
