The football world received the sad news today of the passing of coaching legend Mircea Lucescu, at the age of 80. Many of those who knew the Romanian have expressed their condolences and today, before the Champions League challenge, Diego SIMeone also spoke about him.
The latter had Lucescu as his coach in his first years in major football, when he joined Pisa in Serie A, which was led by the Romanian coach.
"I have a great memory of him, I want to send a message of condolence to the family," Simeone initially told Sky. "It was the 1990-1991 season, when I started taking my first steps in football at the age of 20. And he would take me to eat at his house, he would protect me since I was still a young boy.
"I really have a great memory of the person and clearly the coach, with the numbers speaking for themselves. A humble man with a heart," was Simeone's memory of the Romanian coach.
