BILD's analysis \ The wiretapping scandal that shakes Germany / The reason why Putin published it now

On Friday (March 1), Moscow released a recording of a confidential phone call by senior German military officials about a possible shipment of Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
On February 19, Air Force Inspector Ingo Gerhartz (58 years old) joined forces with three high-ranking comrades - completely defenseless.
Overheard by the Russians, they also discussed for 38 minutes which targets Ukraine would attack with Taurus missiles (including the Crimean Bridge) and whether and how the Bundeswehr would be involved.
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (53, SPD) spoke on Sunday of a "hybrid attack" by Russia aimed at "undermining resolve".
But the big German newspaper BILD has answered the most important questions about this issue:
Who hurts leakage - who benefits?
Damage: For those who want more military aid for Ukraine, there are (Greens, FDP, ministers, military). The Western Alliance to be split.
Benefit: Opponents of Ukrainian politics such as the AfD, the Left, Wagenknecht and peace activists in the SPD.
Why are the Russians revealing what they know now?
"Normally, successful wiretapping operations are not made public in order not to damage the source," former BND chief August Hanning (78) tells BILD.
The fact that the Russians are risking these accesses to harm Germany suggests something else:
"This leak could be just the tip of the iceberg," Hanning said.
He surmises that the Russians could have much more intercepted material.
According to military expert Carlo Masala (55 years old, Bundeswehr University in Munich), the Russians are also concerned to finally prevent the possible delivery of Taurus cruise missiles:
It is now "assured that Olaf Scholz will definitely not deliver Taurus to Ukraine".
This is evidenced by the public's hysterical reaction to possible German participation in the war.
Have the secrets been revealed?
Experts say almost everything the officers discussed about the Demi system was no secret to Moscow.
The problem, however, is that Moscow uses the Germans' discussions (eg about British and American military advisers in Ukraine) for propaganda purposes - and must not reveal its sources.
Do the Russians know much more?
Maybe! British Kremlin expert Neil Barnett told BILD: “Moscow is likely to have much more knowledge. People in Berlin should prepare for more leaks in the coming weeks and months."
Purpose? "The Influence of Public Opinion in Germany and Playing the Allies Against Each Other in the West."
What should happen now?
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (65, SPD) and Defense Minister Pistorius want to clarify how this leak came about. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (65, FDP), head of the Defense Committee, expressed her criticism in BILD: "Even two years after the escalation of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, certain state structures in Germany seem not to be quite prepared. for the security situation".
