Bus skids off road in Thailand, killing 18, injuring 32

A car accident has killed 18 people in Thailand.

The bus, which according to initial reports had brake problems and was carrying 49 people, including representatives of local authorities, veered off the road as it descended into Prachin Buri province, east of the capital Bangkok.

"Seventeen people were found dead on the spot and another lost his life after he could not survive his injuries despite being transported to the hospital," a police officer said, adding that 32 people were injured.

Thailand is known for accidents due to the poor state of infrastructure, use of unsafe vehicles, and unsafe driving.
