Photos of Donald Trump's blackened hand, White House breaks silence on US

New images of US President Donald Trump's hand, showing part of it covered in makeup, have gone viral on social media in recent days.

The photos were taken on August 22 during an appearance in the Oval Office, prompting widespread speculation about the reasons for the use of makeup.

This Monday, during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, a bruise was also noticed on the head of the White House's right hand in official photos.

The news follows statements in July, when the White House announced that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition related to blood circulation. Spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on July 17 that the diagnosis came after tests were performed due to swelling in his legs and bruising on his hand.

White House physician Sean Barbabella described the condition as "benign and common," adding that the marks on the president's hand are related to minor tissue irritations resulting from frequent handshakes and the use of aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.

"President Trump remains in very good health,"  the memo released by Barbabella said.

This is not the first time that photos of Trump's hands have sparked public comment. In February, during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Washington, a similar situation was observed, while on July 27 in Scotland, during a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, photos showed visible marks on his hand.

Experts emphasize that chronic venous insufficiency is common for those over 70 years of age and that in Trump's case there are no signs of more serious problems such as venous thrombosis, arterial disease, or heart failure.

Trump, who celebrated his 79th birthday on June 14, is the oldest president to begin a term in US history.
