Gaza journalist killed five hours after giving birth to his daughter

Palestinian journalist Yahya Sobeih has been killed just five hours after witnessing the birth of his newborn daughter, Sana, in an event that has shocked his family and the media community in Gaza.
According to his wife, Amal Sobeih, he accompanied her to the hospital in the early hours of the morning and managed to see, hold and photograph their third daughter, before leaving briefly to return home and get supplies for the baby.
A few hours later, Yahya Sobeih was killed in an Israeli airstrike that hit a shopping area in Gaza City, also killing several other people, including his relatives.
The family learned the tragic news unexpectedly while Amal Sobeih was still in the hospital after giving birth. She said she only realized her husband's loss after seeing reports online, describing the moment as devastating.
The journalist's widow is now raising her three children alone in difficult conditions in Gaza, amidst war and repeated displacement. She has also taken on her husband's professional role, continuing to work in the same media field.
Amal said her daughter, Sana, who is one year old today, will grow up with the memory that her birthday coincides with the day her father died. She added that, despite the pain, she tries to create small moments of joy for her children.
" I wanted to say goodbye, but I couldn't," she said, describing the loss as an irreparable wound for her family.
