Iran opens Strait of Hormuz, Trump: US blockade will remain in effect until peace is established

US President Donald Trump has welcomed Iran's move to open the Strait of Hormuz for the remainder of the ceasefire.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, the US president said: "IRAN HAS JUST ANNOUNCED THAT THE IRAN STRAIT IS FULLY OPEN AND READY FOR FULL PASSAGE. THANK YOU!"
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Aragchi said that "passage for all commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz has been declared completely open."
The ceasefire between the US and Iran will end on April 22, while the ceasefire in Lebanon was announced yesterday and will last 10 days.
It is unclear which ceasefire Aragchi was referring to in his post regarding the reopening of the strait.
Meanwhile, Trump stressed that the US blockade on Iran will remain in full force until a peace agreement is reached.
He said the US blockade of Iranian ships and ports would "remain in full force", despite Iran's announcement that the Strait of Hormuz was reopening to shipping.
Trump declared that the US blockade will continue until negotiations with Iran are "100% complete."
But the US president added that he expects this process to "go very quickly", as "most of the points have already been negotiated".
Trump's messages today come after reports yesterday that he was eager to end the war, as political pressure on him grows domestically.
