A huge fire has fallen in the poorest neighborhood of Manila, in the Philippines, leaving more than 2,000 families homeless. The fire has been active for more than eight hours and has burned 1000 houses.
About 8,000 people have reportedly been evacuated from the area due to the fire. Drone footage showed moments of mass destruction. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
CNN reports that fires in slums in the Philippine capital are often caused by damaged electrical wires or gas canisters.
Isla Puting Bato in the district of Tondo, is the largest slum of the capital of the state of the Philippines and over 600,000 people live there. Many of them live in shacks near the port.
