From diplomacy to defence preparedness, Starmer speaks with Erdogan and Saudi

As a week has passed since the launch of the American-Israeli attacks on Iran, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Erdogan reportedly told Starmer that more could be done on dialogue on Iran

He told the British prime minister that there are still things that can be done to build a basis for dialogue and that Turkey's "peace-focused efforts" are continuing, according to a statement from the Turkish presidency.

Erdogan said Turkey was monitoring the war that began with the attacks on Iran and that prolonged retaliation could cause major damage to regional and global stability, the statement added.

Meanwhile, in his conversation with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Starmer said that the United Kingdom was ready to support the Arab country if needed.

"Additional British fighter jets, helicopters and a destroyer were being sent to the region, and the UK stood ready to support the defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia if necessary," Starmer told bin Salman.

The two leaders also discussed greater cooperation on intelligence in support of defense operations and civilians.
