Politik has described the protracted judicial process against him as former Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu.

In a press conference, he emphasized that he is not being tried for the Gërdeci case, but for abuse of office.

"But the process against me has nothing to do with any action or decision related to the Gërdec tragedy. Unfortunately, the process against me is just a political fabrication that plays on the pain of the victims' families."

"In 18 years of endless persecution, over 10 processes and prosecutorial decisions have been conducted against me. In none of them has any violation of the law or government decision by the Minister of Defense been found. The Minister of Defense is a civil authority," Mediu said.

According to the defense, the trial against Mr. Mediu is vulnerable due to the composition of the panel, as the judge of the preliminary hearing in this case was later appointed as the trial judge. Despite the request for her exclusion, this request was not taken into account.

Another violation, according to the defense, is the fact that the case was reopened without new facts being presented, even though it is a case that has been tried and is time-barred.
